Job Summary

The Logistics Specialist is responsible for providing logistical support and assistance for the primary spill response, spill clean-up and environmental support equipment.   The Logistics Specialist participates in all daily activities which would include training, equipment maintenance support, spare parts issue and control, drills, and other duties as assigned. 

The Logistics Specialist is responsible for ensuring completion for all spill response logistical equipment maintenance and support including daily checks and inspections

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine and corrective maintenance on oil spill logistics equipment per prescribed maintenance schedules, including mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
  • Perform daily operational checks on all logistical equipment
  • Perform duties onboard vessels assisting the crew as required during drills, training, maintenance, or oil spill operations
  • Operate motor vehicles and forklifts (with valid license)
  • Comply with all applicable SAIL policies, procedures, and directives
  • Assigned, mandatory “on call” responsibilities on a rotational basis
  • Overtime work as required and assigned to carry out emergency and non-emergency duties
  • Completion of preventative and corrective maintenance work orders
  • Completion of Incident Command System communications responsibilities and reports
  • Completion of facility safety inspections, inventories and reports as assigned
  • Fulfil roles within the incident command system during response activities
  • Assist in the training and development classroom and practical exercises

Accountabilities

  • Coordinating and monitoring logistics operations
  • Ensuring premises, assets and communications are used effectively
  • Utilizing logistics IT to optimize shipping and transport procedures

Requirements

  • Preferred to have 2+ years Proven experience in logistics
  • Ability to work with little supervision and track multiple processes
  • Computer-savvy with a working knowledge of logistics software
  • Good organizational and coordination abilities
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Qualifications in business administration, supply chain management or relevant field
